BOSTON -- Today MassGOP Chairman Kirsten Hughes criticized the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee for voting unanimously to adopt the resolution to oppose the state wide gas tax ballot initiative.
"It's not surprising that the Democratic Party is out of touch when it comes to taxation and government spending. This is yet another example of the Dems endorsing taxation without representation," said MassGOP Chairman, Kirsten Hughes.
When asked about the Mass Democratic Party's vote, the chief organizer for Tax the Gas Tax, Steve Aylward said, “I’m not surprised they endorsed against our ballot initiative. Their leadership gave us the tech tax. Their leadership gave us the sales tax hike. Their leadership gave us double taxation on alcohol. And their leadership gave us close to $1 billion in mismanagement of our tax dollars. Why would we think that they would now care about drivers or taxpayers?”
