Democrats are gathering in Worcester this weekend in the midst of an internal battle that's pushing their party further and further to the left:
- Local Democrats are urging primary challenges against incumbents who aren't sufficiently extreme
- The Party's candidates for governor are so eager to spend more tax dollars that they're backing a new tax plan that hurts the poor so much, even Bernie Sanders is opposed to it.
- Candidates are pushing extreme positions like drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants and the Party platform calls for making MA a sanctuary state.
- Teachers' union bosses were blasted for a petty snub of a nationally-recognized Massachusetts teacher - just so they could make a political point about charter schools.
The Party's leftward lurch is worrying prominent Massachusetts Democrats like Congressman Richard Neal, who blasted his Party's failure to connect with regular Americans outside of liberal enclaves: "They see us as not caring anymore.”
