State's Top Prosecutor Healey Endorses Scandal-Plagued Clinton Despite FBI Probe

BOSTON – Today, Attorney General Maura Healey waded into the presidential race, backing scandal-plagued former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, despite an ongoing FBI probe into Clinton's potentially criminal mishandling of classified material when she used a secret email server in her home. MassGOP Chairman Kirsten issued the following statement reacting to Healey's poor judgment:

"It is deeply troubling that the state's top prosecutor would choose now to endorse Hillary Clinton despite the ongoing FBI investigation into her potentially criminal mishandling of classified materials. The fact that Healey's endorsement comes only a day after Clinton's campaign admitted that she used a secret server to handle classified data is evidence of Maura Healy's poor judgment and complete disregard for the legal process she is charged with enforcing."
Healey's endorsement comes only a day after the latest development in the long-running Clinton email scandal, in which her campaign admitted she used the secret server to handle information that is now classified. "Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Wednesday that emails on the private server she used when she was secretary of state contained material that is now classified, the clearest explanation thus far of an issue that has roiled her bid for the presidency." (Byron Tau and Robert McMillan, Hillary Clinton Campaign Says Classified Emails Were on Server," Wall Street Journal, 8/19/15)
